House System Introduction
Here at Falconer School, every pupil and staff member is assigned a house. The House system creates competition, promotes good work and behaviour, encourages teamwork, provides opportunities to take on responsibilities and brings everyone in the school together. The House System is designed to incorporate the values and ethos of the school and aims to be an integral part of our school community. Once assigned their house, students will wear a badge of their house colours to indicate which house they belong to. This will develop of social solidarity; where students feel a sense of belonging to something within their community.
Earning house points
There will be 6 house events per year for students to take part in. Students will be awarded house points for taking part in house competitions as well as finishing in the higher positions. Throughout the school year there will be opportunities for students to earn points through House Challenges ,which involve working hard in their school subjects and in every day school life. Points will be calculated each week, a live table will be placed on the school website and students will be informed of their house position in Monday’s assembly.
House Captains and Vice-Captains
At the beginning of the academic year, each house will join together to vote for their House Captain and Vice-Captain. This is a democratic process that is richly embedded within the school community. Students have the opportunity to have their voices heard through our Student Council, student questionnaires, meeting with the Headteacher and through being a Head Boy, or Deputy Head Boy.
The Winning House
At the end of each academic year, the House with the most points will be awarded the Falconer Shield and will earn a reward trip for all the students in that house! Good luck to all students and may the best House win!
